What is Dental Sedation?
Dental sedation describes various techniques for making our patients more comfortable during dental procedures. Our dentists are able to help determine if a given dental sedation option is right for you.
At our Wellspring Dental clinics, we do all we can to help our patients stay comfortable and relaxed during their appointments with us. On top of offering dental sedation options, all of our dentists are also happy to work at your pace, take breaks when you require them and provide you with calm reassurance.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide is inhaled through the nose and mouth. This medication calms patients while they remain awake and are still able to communicate. It also tends to lessen anxiety, reduce gag reflex, make time pass more quickly and raise a patient's pain threshold.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedatives are either liquids or pills prescribed by your dentist. This medication is taken orally before your dental appointment. It leave you awake for the procedure, but produces a calming effect and can relax you significantly.
